The "DC Versus Marvel Omnibus," to be released August 6, 2024, is a collection of various crossover comics, and just the second collaboration by DC and Marvel in two decades. From 1976 to 2003, crossovers between the DC and Marvel universes (“Superman vs. Uslan recalled similar “interplay” among the companies, citing a regular DC vs. Marvel softball match in Central Park as evidence of camaraderie. The comic "Marvel and DC Present Featuring the Uncanny X-Men and the New Teen Titans #1", will be reprinted in the upcoming collection.

Prior to that film, Waititi was known for co-writing, co-directing and acting in 2014’s “What We Do in the Shadows” and “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” in 2016. “Ragnarok” ended up being one of the most popular films in the cinematic “Thor” franchise and earned over $800 million at the worldwide box office. There are four total films in the “Thor” franchise, led by Chris Hemsworth. The debut movie premiered in 2011 and was followed by three sequels: “Thor: Dark World” in 2013, “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017 and 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder,” for which Waititi returned as director. 236, Spider-Man does indeed try to join the Avengers — and he does it because he finds out the Avengers make $1,000 per week. If the Fantastic Four represent a fantasy of an actual family, and the X-Men represent a fantasy of found family, maybe the Avengers represent a fantasy of adult life and, well, work. The story lines they follow offer comics fans another kind of twist and a different kind of team. This establishes a pattern we’ll see again and again with the Avengers of new hires that do and don’t work out. The atmosphere among the Avengers is less league of heroes bound by honor than Earth’s most hostile work environment: a constantly shifting, conflict-generating story machine.

The Outsize Genius of ‘I’m a Virgo’

One of Cootie’s first rebellions is his insistence on trying a Bing Bang Burger, whose comically unappealing commercials he sees constantly on TV. It is fastidiously, hilariously committed to the bit, constantly doubling down on the logistics of Cootie’s bigness. “I’m a Virgo” comes on the heels of a few ingenious experiments in TV surrealism, from “Atlanta” to “Undone” to the recent farce “Mrs. Its fantastical concept works in metaphor just the same way it works in fact, as it reminds us with proud bluntness. “I’m a Virgo” is a visual and ideological counterpoint to all this.

Goldman Sachs' decision to charge employees for coffee might not be that outrageous after all! The largest US banks — headlined by Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo — just pledged a total of $30 billion in deposits to First Republic Bank. As detailed in a release announcing the news, the 11 banks, which also included Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, believe the move "demonstrates their overall commitment to helping banks serve their customers and communities. I can't imagine the big banks looking to pull the rug out from First Republic four months from now, but this money was a deposit, not a donation. Read more about how big banks came to the rescue of First Republic with $30 billion in deposits.
Disney's "Ant-Man and the Wasp in Quantumania" collected $17.5 million in Thursday night previews on its way towards a $100 million opening weekend. Previously, 2015's "Ant-Man" snared $6 million on Thursday before tallying $57 million over the three-day spready. 2018's "Ant-Man and the Wasp" secured $12 million on its Thursday debut and $76 million across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. "'Quantumania' is tracking to become the best February box office opener in five years," said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com. Lackluster critical reviews of the film likely won't deter moviegoers.
Walter Mosley Thinks America Is Getting Dumber

Mamadi Doumbouya for The New York Times Talk Walter Mosley Thinks America Is Getting DumberWalter Mosley is best known as one of contemporary literature’s pre-eminent crime novelists, but he’s actually four or five different writers rolled into one. You have to tell stories about real people experiencing it and not real people with a Ph.D. People who are not stupid but ignorant, who don’t know things about the world. There are people who don’t know how to spell, they don’t know how to think. You have these people coming out into the world, and they don’t know what to do. That’s going to happen.
It also represents a significant bridging of the divides between Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony PlayStation and Sony Music, according to a dozen current and former senior executives interviewed by Reuters. “I defined our identity as a creative entertainment company with a solid foundation on technology,” Sony chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida said. Sony’s “creative entertainment” company approach extends beyond content. A Sony-Honda electric vehicle, scheduled to reach consumers by 2026, is being framed as a rolling showcase of Sony’s entertainment, gaming and camera sensor prowess. This August will bring another test of Sony’s strategy when “Gran Turismo” hits theaters after languishing for 12 years.

[1/4] A life size "Iron Man" is on display in the Marvel booth at the 39th annual Comic Con Convention in San Diego July 24, 2008. REUTERS/Mike BlakeOct 31 (Reuters) - Electronic Arts Inc (EA.O) will launch an Iron Man game and at least two other action-adventure titles revolving around characters from the Marvel universe, under a deal announced by the videogame publisher on Monday. EA has previously partnered with Marvel owner Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) to develop games based on the Star Wars movie franchise for mobile devices, PCs and consoles. Activision Blizzard (ATVI.O) has launched games on Spider-Man, while Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment developed games based on DC's Batman. EA's bet on its new games comes as the videogame publisher struggles with a slowdown in demand from peaks touched during the pandemic.
The pair inherit a baggage-heavy DC film universe. Discovery has finally found an executive to lead its DC movie and TV franchise — well, executives, plural, that is. Warner Bros. Since Discovery and WarnerMedia merged earlier this year, Zaslav has been looking for someone to lead DC's movie and TV efforts. Gunn jumped to Warner Bros. and DC after getting temporarily fired from the third "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie in 2018.
NFL Films is in talks with Hollywood partners about expanding its TV and film efforts. "We have a sport that is most akin to Hollywood," NFL Films senior director Ross Ketover told Insider. Among the buyers are Disney's ESPN, ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+; AppleTV+ and Amazon Prime Video. NFL Films and Omaha also made a version starring MMA's Ronda Rousey called "Rowdy's Places," for ESPN+. NFL Films helped make a season of its Amazon series, "All or Nothing," for the English Premiere League's Manchester City back in 2018.
Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers about “She-Hulk’s” season finale. CNN —“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” revealed both its superpower and Achilles heel in the season finale: It’s a TV show for people who watch too much TV in general and too much of Marvel’s output in particular. Designed to test the parameters of how far Marvel could go with this sort of exercise, “She-Hulk” clearly delivered an unabashed out-there comedy. It’s tempting to credit “She-Hulk” for taking chances, but frankly, that has clearly been the plan with Marvel’s expansion into streaming for some time now. Part of the show’s legacy, as noted, will be the way it reintroduced Daredevil.
